Wired Connection Guide

Tab Display recommends wireless connection. Only attempt wired connection if your wireless environment is unstable or unavailable.

USB Tethering Connection

A wired connection method using a USB cable.

Compatibility

Windows ↔ Android: Supported

Mac ↔ iPad/iPhone: Supported

Mac ↔ Android: Not Supported

ℹ️ Unfortunately, USB tethering between Mac and Android devices is not supported due to system limitations.

How to Set Up USB Tethering

1

Connect devices with USB cable

Connect your tablet to your computer using a USB cable.

2

Enable USB tethering on tablet

iOS: Settings → Personal Hotspot → Enable 'Allow Others to Join'

Android: Settings → Network & Internet → Hotspot & Tethering → Enable 'USB tethering'

3

Select tethered network in Tab Display

On your computer, open Tab Display settings and select the USB tethered network from the network list

4

Connect as usual

Follow the standard Tab Display connection procedure to connect both devices

Ethernet-Based Connection

A connection method using USB-C to RJ45 adapters. If USB tethering is not available, you can connect using additional hardware.

ℹ️ Important Note: This guide is based on testing in a limited environment. This method is not officially supported, so please consider this carefully before purchasing hardware. Connection results may vary depending on your specific hardware and device compatibility.

Connection Setup

📱 Tablet [USB-C]
USB-C to RJ45 Adapter
Ethernet Cable
RJ45 to USB-C Adapter
💻 MacBook/PC [USB-C]

💡 Modern MacBooks/laptops typically don't have built-in Ethernet ports, so you'll need adapters on both ends. If your PC has a built-in Ethernet port, you only need an adapter for the tablet side. Even if you don't follow the exact configuration above, it may work as long as an Ethernet connection is possible.

What You'll Need

  • Two USB-C to RJ45 Ethernet adapters (or one if your PC has a built-in Ethernet port. Connection is possible with just one adapter if available.)
  • One Ethernet cable (any standard cable)

💡 USB-C hubs or docks with Ethernet ports can replace standalone adapters

Connection Method

1

Connect a USB-C to RJ45 adapter to your tablet's USB-C port

2

Connect another USB-C to RJ45 adapter to your MacBook/PC's USB-C port (skip if your PC has a built-in Ethernet port)

3

Connect both adapters using an Ethernet cable

4

Configure static IP addresses on both devices (required)

💻 On MacBook/PC:

• IP: 192.168.100.1

• Subnet: 255.255.255.0

📱 On tablet:

• IP: 192.168.100.2

• Subnet: 255.255.255.0

• DNS: 8.8.8.8

💡 You can use different IP addresses in the same subnet (e.g., 192.168.100.x where x is 1-254). On Android devices, you must also enter a DNS address to save the static IP settings. (e.g., 8.8.8.8)

5

Check if the wired network is detected on your tablet (some devices may require manual activation in network settings)

6

In Tab Display settings on your MacBook/PC, select the Ethernet network. If you connected while the app was already running, it may not appear immediately. In this case, restart the app

7

Follow the standard connection procedure to connect both devices
